Technical information & FAQs

Camozzi Series 95 Cushioned Stainless Steel Pneumatic Cylinders

Camozzi Series 95 pneumatic cylinders are designed for applications that demand both corrosion-resistant construction and controlled end-of-stroke movement. Built to ISO 6432 dimensions and produced specifically in 25 mm bore, the range combines AISI 316 stainless steel with adjustable pneumatic cushioning.

This makes Series 95 particularly relevant to marine equipment, food-processing machinery, washdown environments and other installations where an ordinary mini pneumatic cylinder may not offer sufficient material resistance, but a simple mechanically cushioned stainless-steel cylinder would not provide enough control over piston deceleration.

Why Series 95 Exists

A stainless-steel pneumatic cylinder is often selected because the surrounding environment is difficult. But corrosion resistance does not remove the need to control the motion of the machine itself.

Series 95 addresses both requirements. Its AISI 316 construction protects the principal cylinder components, while adjustable pneumatic cushioning allows the piston to decelerate progressively before reaching the end of its travel.

That combination can be particularly valuable on equipment operating frequent cycles, where repeated hard impacts could otherwise increase vibration, noise and mechanical stress.

25 mm Bore with Adjustable End Cushioning

Series 95 is intentionally focused on one bore size: 25 mm. Rather than reproducing the complete Series 94 range, Camozzi uses Series 95 to provide a dedicated cushioned solution at this commonly used mini-cylinder diameter.

The cushioning is adjusted by a screw in the cylinder end block, allowing the behaviour to be tuned to the moving mass and operating speed of the machine.

AISI 316 Construction Throughout the Pneumatic Cylinder

Camozzi specifies AISI 316 stainless steel for the Series 95 end caps, cylinder tube and piston rod. This extensive material specification is the central reason to use the range in applications exposed to moisture or corrosive operating conditions.

The pneumatic cylinder also uses NSF H1-certified lubricant, while its construction allows the seals to be replaced when servicing becomes necessary.

Standard or Through-Rod Series 95?

Series 95 is available as a conventional double-acting pneumatic cylinder and as a double-acting through-rod version. The through-rod configuration extends the piston rod from both ends of the cylinder and should be selected specifically where the machine mechanism requires that arrangement.

Because these versions differ mechanically, the original configuration should be preserved when replacing an existing Series 95 pneumatic cylinder.

High-Temperature Stainless Steel Versions

Camozzi also provides an all-FKM Series 95 material option for operation at temperatures up to 150°C. This combines elevated-temperature sealing with the AISI 316 cylinder construction.

For maintenance replacements, the seal specification should be checked carefully. Installing a standard NBR Series 95 pneumatic cylinder in place of an original high-temperature FKM unit could materially change the operating limits of the machine.

Series 95 Compared with Series 94

Series 94 is the broader stainless-steel ISO 6432 family, covering 16, 20 and 25 mm bores with mechanical cushioning. Series 95 focuses specifically on 25 mm bore and adds adjustable pneumatic end cushioning.

If corrosion resistance is the main requirement and fixed mechanical cushioning is sufficient, a Series 94 pneumatic cylinder may be appropriate. If the application also needs control over end-of-stroke deceleration, Series 95 is the purpose-built option.

Choosing the Right Series 95 Pneumatic Cylinder

I already use a 25 mm Series 94. When would changing to Series 95 make sense?

Series 95 becomes relevant where you need to retain the AISI 316 stainless-steel construction but also want adjustable pneumatic cushioning. It should not be treated as an automatic upgrade, because the machine dimensions and required cylinder configuration still need to be checked.

Does the cushioning adjustment matter on a relatively small 25 mm pneumatic cylinder?

It can. The importance depends on the moving mass, stroke speed and cycle frequency. Where attached tooling repeatedly reaches the end position at speed, controlling deceleration can reduce shock transferred into the pneumatic cylinder and surrounding mechanism.

Can I use Series 95 in a high-temperature washdown application?

Camozzi offers an all-FKM Series 95 configuration rated up to 150°C alongside its AISI 316 construction. The actual washdown chemicals and application conditions should still be checked for compatibility with all cylinder and seal materials.

My existing pneumatic cylinder has a rod at both ends. Is standard Series 95 suitable?

No. If the existing machine uses a through-rod pneumatic cylinder, select the corresponding Series 95 through-rod configuration rather than a standard single-rod model.

Why buy Series 95 instead of an ordinary 25 mm ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinder?

Series 95 is intended for applications where two features matter together: corrosion-resistant AISI 316 construction and adjustable pneumatic cushioning. If neither is required, a conventional ISO 6432 pneumatic cylinder may be a more straightforward choice.
