Frequently Asked Questions
Cylinder Warehouse is the Dedicated Pneumatic Cylinder Warehouse, built for engineers, buyers and maintenance teams sourcing pneumatic cylinders by part number, brand, bore and stroke.
Find answers to common questions about pneumatic cylinder identification, exact replacement products, alternatives, availability, delivery and returns.
Can I search using a manufacturer part number?
Yes. Enter the complete part number into the website search, including all letters, numbers, dashes and suffixes.
You can also browse pneumatic cylinders by manufacturer.
What happens when I order an exact part number?
Unless an alternative has been proposed and authorised, Cylinder Warehouse will supply the manufacturer and part number confirmed on the order.
Where the customer selected the part number without asking Cylinder Warehouse to verify suitability, the customer remains responsible for confirming it is correct for the machine or application.
Can Cylinder Warehouse verify whether a part is suitable?
We can review the information provided and compare available technical data. The quality of the review depends on receiving the complete part number, photographs, dimensions and application details.
Where application suitability is critical, the final machine design and safety assessment remain with the responsible machine owner, designer or competent engineer.
What information is needed to identify an unknown cylinder?
Provide clear photographs together with the manufacturer, visible markings, bore, stroke, mountings, piston rod dimensions, air ports and sensor details.
Read How to Identify a Pneumatic Cylinder.
Do cylinders with the same bore and stroke fit each other?
Not necessarily. Cylinders with the same bore and stroke can have different body lengths, mountings, piston rod threads, ports, cushioning and sensor arrangements.
See the Pneumatic Cylinder Replacement Guide.
Can you supply an alternative brand?
Yes. Cylinder Warehouse has access to multiple established pneumatic manufacturers.
Where the original product is obsolete, discontinued, unavailable or subject to an unsuitable lead time, another manufacturer may provide the only practical replacement route.
Will I be told before an alternative is ordered?
Yes. The alternative manufacturer and part number will be identified, together with known relevant differences.
Where a business customer has already authorised the 24-hour alternative process, Cylinder Warehouse may proceed if no written objection is received within 24 hours of notification.
Where no prior authorisation exists, the order will remain on hold until the alternative is approved.
What does like-for-like mean?
It means a cylinder selected to provide substantially equivalent function and key operating characteristics using the technical information available.
It does not necessarily mean that the manufacturer, appearance, dimensions, ports, sensors or accessories are identical. Known differences will be identified.
Are all products held in stock?
No. The catalogue includes UK stock, supplier stock, overseas stock, built-to-order, made-to-order, imported and configured cylinders.
See Cylinder Availability and Lead Times.
Do you offer express cylinder builds?
Yes. Selected ranges from participating manufacturers may be available through an express build service where the required components and production capacity are available.
Do you offer same-day delivery?
Dedicated same-day delivery may be available after the cylinder has been completed, subject to courier availability, delivery distance, order confirmation time and site access.
See Express Pneumatic Cylinder Build and Same-Day Delivery.
Can built-to-order or imported cylinders be returned?
Correctly supplied built-to-order, made-to-order, configured, modified or imported-to-order cylinders may be non-returnable.
The applicable restriction will be communicated before the order is accepted where relevant. See the Returns Policy.
What happens if I order the wrong cylinder?
If Cylinder Warehouse supplies the exact manufacturer and part number ordered, the product is not treated as incorrectly supplied.
Return eligibility depends on whether the product can be returned to stock or accepted back by the manufacturer or supplier.
Are delivery dates guaranteed?
Delivery dates are estimates unless a guaranteed service or fixed commitment has been expressly confirmed in writing.
Carrier delays can occur outside the direct operational control of Cylinder Warehouse, but we remain the customer’s point of contact and will investigate and support the delivery.
Do you deliver internationally?
Yes. International shipping is available to many destinations, subject to product, carrier and export restrictions.
Are prices inclusive or exclusive of VAT?
Product pages display the applicable price excluding VAT and the calculated price including UK VAT where relevant.
The checkout shows the order subtotal, shipping charge, VAT and total payable.
