Camozzi Series MST Pneumatic Mini Slides
Camozzi Series MST pneumatic mini slides combine a twin-piston pneumatic cylinder with a precision roller guide to deliver high force, stiffness and accurate linear positioning from a compact actuator. They are designed for automation tasks where attached tooling must move precisely while the slide itself supports and guides the load.
Available in six sizes from MST6 to MST25, the range covers compact handling, assembly, positioning and machine-tool movements. Adjustable-stroke accessories, hydraulic end-of-stroke shock absorbers and magnetic position sensing allow the Series MST pneumatic slide to be configured around the actual motion of the machine.

High Force and Guidance in One Compact Assembly
Series MST uses two pneumatic pistons rather than relying on a single piston to generate the working force. That pneumatic drive is combined with a precision roller guide, allowing the actuator to move attached tooling while controlling its alignment throughout the stroke.
This gives MST a very different role from a conventional pneumatic cylinder. Instead of relying on the surrounding machine for external guidance, the pneumatic slide carries both the actuation and guidance functions within one compact assembly.

The increasing MST size changes not only available pneumatic force but also the physical guide, mounting and permissible load characteristics. Select the mini slide around the complete mechanical requirement rather than treating size as simply another name for bore.
Precision Roller Guidance
Camozzi uses a precision roller guide specifically to increase rigidity and positioning accuracy. This helps minimise movement error when tooling is mounted directly to the pneumatic slide and makes Series MST suitable for applications where the mechanical path needs tighter control than a conventional piston rod can provide.
The guide system should still be checked against the actual external load and moments generated by the tooling, particularly where the load sits away from the centre of the moving table.
Fine-Tune the Stroke to the Machine
Dedicated SR stroke-adjustment accessories can be fitted at the extension and retraction ends of Series MST. Camozzi specifies an adjustable range of up to 10 mm, allowing the final working position to be tuned during machine setup.
This is particularly useful when a standard catalogue stroke is close to the required travel but the actual fixture or component position needs a smaller final adjustment.
Hydraulic End-of-Stroke Shock Absorbers
Where the moving tooling creates higher end-of-stroke energy, Camozzi provides EA hydraulic shock-absorber accessories for both extension and retraction. These absorb kinetic energy as the slide approaches the end position rather than allowing the moving assembly to stop abruptly.
This can be particularly important on fast-cycling handling equipment or where the moving tooling adds significant mass to the pneumatic slide.
Integrated Magnetic Position Monitoring
Series MST incorporates an internal magnet so compatible CSD proximity sensors can monitor slide position. Both cable and M8 connector sensor options are available, including straight and 90-degree connection arrangements.
This allows the slide position to form part of the machine sequence without requiring mechanical limit switches to contact the moving assembly.
Where Series MST Makes Sense
Series MST is particularly suited to machine functions that require pneumatic force, external load guidance and precise positioning from the same compact unit. Typical duties include component transfer, assembly operations, insertion, positioning, loading and small pick-and-place movements.
The compact and lightweight design is also useful where the complete actuator is mounted to another moving machine axis and unnecessary mass would reduce dynamic performance.
Choosing the Right Camozzi MST Pneumatic Mini Slide
Why would I use MST instead of a conventional guided pneumatic cylinder?
Series MST combines twin-piston actuation with precision roller guidance in a particularly compact slide format. It is intended for applications where high stiffness and accurate positioning are central to the machine function rather than simply producing linear force.
I need a 60 mm travel. Do I need a special MST?
60 mm is not one of the standard strokes shown in Camozzi's MST table. Depending on the selected size and required final travel, a longer standard stroke together with the appropriate stroke-adjustment accessory may be worth considering, provided the mechanical application remains within the permitted adjustment range.
When should I add the hydraulic shock absorbers?
They become particularly relevant where tool mass and operating speed create significant kinetic energy at the end of travel. They should be sized and positioned as part of the slide application rather than added solely because the cycle rate is high.
MST20 and MST25 both reach 150 mm stroke. How do I choose between them?
The decision should be based on the required pneumatic force together with the external load and moments applied to the guide. Stroke alone does not determine the correct MST size.
Can I monitor the slide position electrically?
Yes. Series MST contains an internal magnet and accepts Camozzi CSD proximity sensors, including versions with conventional cables or M8 electrical connectors.
